Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed sustained a broken collarbone during a win over the Washington Commanders, coach Matt LaFleur told reporters.
LaFleur spoke about the injury after the Packers' 27-18 triumph Thursday in Green Bay, Wis. A source told NFL Network that Reed is expected to miss six to eight weeks due to the injury. Reed posted "I'll be back," Friday on X.
"He is going to miss a lot of time," LaFleur told reporters. "Unfortunately, he broke his collarbone. He'll be down for quite some time. We'll see how fast he can recover and heal.
"Certainly, I would expect him back at some point this season. Obviously, it's a big blow to us. He is a guy that is a catalyst for our offense and our football team."
Reed sustained the injury on the first drive of the game. Packers quarterback Jordan Love threw a pass deep down the right flank at the start of the play. Reed caught the ball and appeared to score a touchdown before landing hard on his right shoulder.
The play was later nullified due to a holding penalty on the Packers. Reed was removed from the game with what the Packers called a shoulder injury. He was ruled out in the second half.
Reed totaled 45 yards and a score on three catches in the Packers' season-opening win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday in Green Bay. He is now a candidate to go on injured reserve.
Savion Williams, Malik Heath and Dontayvion Wicks are the wide receivers listed behind Reed and fellow starters Romeo Doubs and Matthew Golden on the Packers' depth chart.
The Packers (2-0) will play the Cleveland Browns (0-1) in Week 3.
