There has now been another intriguing development at Rangers as Russell Martin drops the Belgian from his squad, following the unsuccessful approaches from Leeds and Everton.

Russell Martin drops Nicolas Raskin ahead of Rangers vs Hearts

The Rangers No.43 has been told he needs to win back the “trust” of his colleagues at Ibrox, amid suggestions that transfer speculation has become a distraction for him.

Speaking about Raskin – who Leeds almost signed in 2022 – Martin told reporters: “He won’t be in the squad tomorrow. We have a lot of conversations as we do with every player, but he’s back training with the squad which is a good step.

“Now, like every player, he has a duty to make sure he earns the trust of all his other teammates, coaching staff and the staff in the building to help us win football matches. It’s the same for every player here.

“The most important thing is Nico knows why, the players know why and we all move forward and we have to win football matches now.”

Raskin – who Rangers value at £25m, according to The Glasgow Times – has made nine appearances in all competitions for the Scottish giants so far this season, providing two assists.

The man born in Liege is still contracted to Rangers until June 2028.

Nicolas Raskin could still leave Rangers

Despite the transfer window closing in the United Kingdom on Monday 1st September – and in most other European leagues – it remains open in several countries.

Turkish Super Lig – Friday 12th September

Super League Greece – Friday 12th September

Liga MX (Mexico) – Friday 12th September

Liga Portugal – Monday 15th September

Serbian Super Liga – Wednesday 17th September

Saudi Pro League – Tuesday 23rd September

It remains to be seen where Raskin wants to go after rejecting Leeds and Everton, but if any clubs in the divisions listed above catch his eye, an exit from Ibrox could still materialise in the coming days.
