Fenerbahce president Ali Koç has revealed that they tried to sign Yunus Konak from Brentford this summer but were quoted an ‘astonishing’ asking price.
[Journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu](https://x.com/yagosabuncuoglu/status/1966514851531857994) covers comments from the Fenerbahce president today in which he reveals their efforts to sign the Brentford midfielder.
Konak joined Brentford in a €4.5m deal from Sivasspor in January last year and has made 12 appearances since, totalling 65 minutes.
The 19-year-old is very much considered one for the future, with them waiting until September last year, eight months after his debut to hand him his debut in a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham.
He was then given a handful of appearances after that, with none going above six minutes, before the end of the season. He also played in the EFL Cup, with a 27-minute appearance in the 3-1 win over Leyton Orient. He is yet to make an appearance in any Brentford squad this season under new manager Keith Andrews.
And it appears he could have departed this summer, but instead Fenerbahce pulled away after the sums that Brentford quoted for their man.
“We wanted Yunus Emre Konak from Brentford. The club’s asking price was astonishing,” he is quoted as saying.
