The NBA announced a rule change on Wednesday, and Josh Hart of the New York Knicks couldn’t help but give his teammate and friend, Mikal Bridges, a hard time about it.
After Shams Charania revealed that the league will record unsuccessful end-of-period heaves as missed-field goal attempts for the team and not for the player, Hart hopped on social media.
“You’re a trailblazer,” Hart posted on X, tagging Bridges.

Hart is poking fun at Bridges, and suggesting he’s one of the best stars to heave – and miss – end-of-period shots.
But all joking aside, this rule change is noteworthy.
Previously, players sometimes held back with these wild, end-of-period shots because they didn’t want to impact their overall percentages.
Now they won’t have to worry about that, which means fans might see an increase in these attempted buckets.
That might provide more entertainment for viewers, but it may not add to the scoreboard much because these shots are obviously incredibly hard to make.
The league has been making a few minor changes in the summer, like it usually does.
These aren’t the sort of adjustments that will greatly impact the game, but they could make a few things different, faster, and more enjoyable for faithful followers of the NBA.
This comment from Hart isn’t that surprising because he regularly plays the role of class clown for the Knicks and loves to make jokes at the expense of his teammates.
This isn’t the first time, and it certainly won’t be the last.
