Pep Guardiola and Ruben Amorim have confirmed they will be without several key players for the Manchester Derby at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United have fewer concerns but the majority are relatively fresh issues with Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount both forced off in the 3-2 win over Burnley nearly a fortnight ago while Diogo Dalot pulled out of the Portugal squad.

The trio have been confirmed as unavailable by Amorim for the trip across the city and have thus joined Lisandro Martinez in the treatment room at Carrington.

"They are out for this game, I don’t know how long it’s going to take," he said at a press conference on Friday. "We need these guys to be a competitive team. We have very good players, who are eager to play, so we will be competitive on Sunday. But they are out."

Pushed on how long they the three players may be out for, Amorim added: "I don’t want to say. If you talk to Cunha outside, he will say he can play this game. They are pushing really hard."

Meanwhile, for City, Guardiola looks set to be without a number of important players but could also welcome back a key trio. Starting with the positive news, Josko Gvardiol and Savinho have both returned to training recently and could therefore feature while Phil Foden is expected to be available.

The September international break was not seemingly kind to Guardiola though, with Omar Marmoush getting injured while playing for Egypt just a few days after John Stones was forced to withdraw from the England squad. The City boss gave updates on that duo while also confirming other members that are on the injury list.

"Omar is injured. Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki [is injured]. The rest are fine," he said on Friday. "Stones as well is a doubt. Not a big issue but he is a doubt for Sunday.

When asked how long Marmoush could miss, Guardiola revealed: "We have to make the last tests. A few weeks. Before the [October] international break he will be ready."

The likes of Mateo Kovacic, Marcus Bettinelli, Kalvin Phillips and Abdukodir Khusanov have been out injured recently but the latter duo could be available after being pictured in training.
