FPL Preview for September 13, including Liverpool vs Burnley and Manchester Derby

With the international break now in the past, the return of Fantasy Premier League is upon us. Have you made your transfers yet?

We’re in for a scintillating set of Premier League fixtures at the weekend, as the two Manchester clubs gear up for the Manchester Derby. Elsewhere, Liverpool will play Burnley, Arsenal will take on Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United will host Wolverhampton Wanderers at St. James’ Park.

Today, we’ll give you all the pointers you’ll need to make an informed FPL transfer decision and get a leg up on your mates. The international break has certainly shaken things up a bit – does your team just need the finishing tocuhes, or is it crying out for major surgery?

With plenty of options to choose from, here are our top picks for who you should transfer in and who you should throw on the scrapheap. We’ll base this on their performances so far, coupled with their FPL price – we want to make sure you’re getting the best value for money.

Who should I bring in?

There are several good choices you could make for your weekly transfer – Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez and Bournemouth duo Antoine Semenyo and Marcus Tavernier are among them, but the standout pick has to be Everton’s Jack Grealish.

In just three Premier League games, Grealish has registered four assists – making him the league’s top creator in 2025/26. His excellent displays were noted by experts, who named him as the Premier League’s Player of the Month for August.

He has yet to score a competitive goal for the Blues, but this will surely come in time. Furthermore, his inclusion in the Toffees’ starting lineup seems like a no-brainer – especially with him taking on his old club, Aston Villa, at the weekend.

Grealish will be motivated to put in a top display against Unai Emery’s men on Saturday afternoon – and given the Villans’ poor defensive record so far in 2025/26, with four goals conceded in three games, it’s a fair assumption that Grealish will rack up a few points before the end of the weekend.

Who should I get rid of?

Injuries aside, few players have been quite as disappointing thus far as Ollie Watkins. Despite commanding a lofty price of £9.0 on gameweek one, Watkins has yet to score a goal or register an assist this season.

Normally, we would advise patience – this line of thinking worked for those who stuck by Jarrod Bowen in the previous gameweek. However, for a player of Watkins’ FPL price, it simply isn’t worth it.

Superior – not to mention cheaper – options are available. Joao Pedro immediately sticks out at £7.7, but other forwards such as Liverpool ace Hugo Ekitike, Spurs’ Richarlison and Forest’s Chris Wood have also comprehensively outperformed the 29 year old so far.

Despite this, Watkins will play against Everton next. The Toffees are not airtight at the back, having let three goals in over the course of three games – the former Exeter City man has to break his duck at some point.
