During his infamous 2024 Netflix roast, former star quarterbackTom Brady laughed along with the jokes about his stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and messy divorce from ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. His three children, however, weren’t as amused.
Brady revealed that one of the more difficult parts of serving as the titular butt ofThe Roast of Tom Brady was seeing how his kids reacted to their dad getting skewered by comedians, football stars and other celebrities during the streaming special.

“The only thing that was hard for me is that I have kids and that it hurts their feelings,” Brady explained during an appearance on Kevin Hart’s Cold As Balls podcast, noting that he initially “didn’t think about” the roast from a parent’s perspective.
Brady said he “learned a lesson” from his children’s reactions to his TV appearance, which reportedly also left Bündchen feeling “deeply disappointed,” perPeople. Despite the divisive response from his family, Brady said that he otherwise “had a great time” in the hot seat, which he credits to his nearly three decades in the world of professional sports.
“What everyone has to realize is that I was in a locker room for 28 years of my life, and the only thing we do in locker rooms are roast each other,” Brady explained.
These moments not only helped Brady take theinsults in stride, but also helped him understand the value of comedy as a whole. “I do think laughter is the best form of medicine for all of us,” he concluded. “When I went through a lot of hard times in my life, I’ve always turned to comedy and laughter.”
He just might not want to turn to The Roast of Tom Brady for those hard-times laughs — especially if they’re meant to help him continue to get over Bündchen.
