New York Knicks agree to one-year deal with Malcolm Brogdon

Sept. 12 (UPI) -- The New York Knicks agreed to a 1-year deal with free agent guard Malcolm Brogdon.

Sources told ESPN, Newsday and SNYtv about the agreement Friday. Brogdon averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game over 24 appearances last season for the Washington Wizards.

Brogdon averaged 15.3 points, 4.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game over the first nine years of his NFL career. He would play for his fifth team in five years.

The 6-foot-4 guard averaged a career-high 21.2 points per game over 56 starts in 2020-21 for the Indiana Pacers. Brogdon averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists over 67 appearances for the Boston Celtics in 2022-23 en route to Sixth Man of the Year honors.

He is expected to fill a rotational role with the Knicks.

The Knicks will host the Philadelphia 76ers in the preseason Oct. 2 in New York. They will host the Cleveland Cavaliers in their regular season opener Oct. 22 at Madison Square Garden.
