Buffalo Bills: Have Devastating News for Key Defensive Star

The Buffalo Bills will travel to East Rutherford, New Jersey, to play against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium for their first divisional matchup of the regular season. For Sunday afternoon’s matchup, Buffalo aims to extend their winning streak to four games versus their division rivals. According to ESPN, the Bills are 6.5-point favorites with an over/under set at 47.5.

Ed Oliver suffered an apparent left ankle injury during Wednesday’s practice after a teammate stepped on his left foot. The star defensive tackle did not practice on Thursday and was spotted wearing a walking boot and riding a scooter. Oliver is a key defensive playmaker who regularly disrupts the offensive line in both the running and passing games, and the Bills cannot afford him to miss an extended period.

During Friday’s press conference, Sean McDermott provided an injury update on Ed Oliver, as reported by Maddy Glab of the team’s website. The Bills have already ruled out their defensive tackle against the New York Jets. There is a chance Oliver could be sidelined for an extended period.

The plan is for T.J. Sanders to start alongside DaQuan Jones with Ed Oliver sidelined. The second-round pick failed to register a statistic across 16 defensive snaps in his regular-season debut. Fourth-round pick Deone Walker will also see his role increase, along with veteran Jordan Phillips potentially being elevated for gameday.
