Leeds new boy Lucas Perri has filed a lawsuit in Brazil’s Labor Court against his former club, Botafogo. According to O Globo, Perri is demanding around R$2.8 million (approximately £388,000) in unpaid dues. He filed the claim in Rio de Janeiro’s 65th Labor Court, seeking payment for image rights, FGTS (the Brazilian severance fund), and outstanding severance pay.
An excerpt of a report from Foot Mercato reads:
“Perri has filed a lawsuit against SAF Botafogo for breaches of contractual obligations and labour rights between 2024 and August 2025.
“The 27-year-old player and his lawyers attempted to resolve the dispute amicably with SAF, according to defence lawyers. However, this was unsuccessful.”
The initial hearing is set for November 5, 2025. Perri, who played for Botafogo between 2022 and 2023 and was a standout performer, is currently with Leeds United.
When is Perri expected to return to the first team?
It was reported this week that the Brazilian picked up an injury in training. Daniel Farke confirmed on Thursday that the keeper could miss the next two games against Fulham and Wolves:
”Some mixed news. Can confirm Lucas Perri is definitely out, he reports problems with his quad after the last game, scan showed a muscle strain so will miss Fulham and Wolves, then we’ll see.”
Karl Darlow is expected to deputize in goal, and in a shocking turn of events, Illan Meslier is set for a recall to the squad.
