Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb came to the defense of Micah Parsons.

Last season, New York Giants cornerback Dru Phillips made a tackle on Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb that caused Lamb to sustain a shoulder injury. Now, heading into their first matchup of the 2025 season, Lamb didn’t hold back when talking about facing Phillips again.

“He tackled me and hurt me, so I got something for him for sure,” Lamb said about Phillips.

Lamb has the best 1-2 punch of motivation of any receiver heading into week two, with his dismay of Phillips, as well as his costly drops in week one against the Philadelphia Eagles. Although he put up 110 yards on seven catches, he made four drops that went a long way in hurting the Cowboys chances to upset the reigning Super Bowl champions.

Phillips didn’t face much from the Commanders in week one, defending zero passes while making four tackles. Now, against Dallas, he’ll have Lamb’s hostility towards him to deal with.

A Good Start For Giants Defense

The New York defense stood up to the test against a versatile Washington Commanders offense in week one, holding them to just 21 points. Though the numbers may not back up their case, their red zone effectiveness limited the Commanders all day long.

Bobby Okereke led the way with 16 tackles, while Javon Holland had eight and Paulson Adebo had seven.

The Giants entered the season with the fourth best defense in the NFL according to ESPN’s Mike Clay. Their additions of Holland and Adebo in free agency and Abdul Carter in the draft bolstered what was already a good defense on paper.

Their defensive line, which before the Carter selection already boasted Okereke, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns is one of the most talented in the league.

Giants fans are calling for more Abdul Carter moving forward. Carter lined up for roughly half of the defensive snaps in week one and registered half a sack and four pressures. Carter’s talent is bursting from the seams, so it only makes sense for New York to increase his workload against a lackluster Cowboys O-line.

Is Jaxson Dart’s Time Coming Sooner Than Later

Russell Wilson put up a real stinker of a performance in week one against the Commanders, completing well under half of his pass attempts for just 168 yards. Pressure is already mounting for the Giants to make the move sooner than later to rookie QB Jaxson Dart.

Dart was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft in April, one of the two Giants first rounders along with Carter. Dart was a standout in college with Ole Miss, completing 69.3 percent of his passes in his senior season for 4,279 yards and 29 touchdowns.

The real question that needs to be answered is why New York is playing Wilson at all. Their roster is a few years into a rebuild with a great defense and a legitimate No. 1 receiver in Malik Nabers. Wilson, even if he played well this year, isn’t going to be around much longer as he ages out of the NFL, so it should make way more sense to play Dart this year and see if he really is the QB of the future. The longer the Giants wait to see if Dart has what it takes to be a QB1, the harder it’s going to be for them to be competitive in the coming years if he isn’t their guy.
