The Jacksonville Jaguars traded running back Tank Bigsby to the Philadelphia Eagles after Travis Etienne went off against the Carolina Panthers in the season opener. However, that was just one of the reasons behind the move.
Leaving aside that Bigsby wasn't a great fit in Liam Coen's system (he isn't that much of a pass-catcher), the Jaguars have the depth to overcome his departure. Bhayshul Tuten gives Jacksonville a dynamic No. 2 behind Etienne. On top of that, fellow rookie LeQuint Allen can contribute as a blocker and a receiver out of the backfield.
What stands out about Allen is that he was a seventh-round selection, but you wouldn't be able to tell by watching him play. Just recently, he revealed the reason behind his early success in the NFL.
The Jaguars have a feisty running back in LeQuint Allen
Mia O'Brien of ESPN Radio recently highlighted Le Quint Allen's fiery attitude, pointing out that he was seemingly involved in every scuffle that took place in Jaguars training camp. Here's the skinny.
"That's just how I play football. I'm not out here to play patty cake," Allen said. "I'm out here to protect the QB at all cost. I'm out here to protect my teammates at all costs. But football is violent. If you don't wanna be violent, play a different sport."
That's the kind of attitude you want to see players embrace. It most definitely fits the team's mantra of obtaining intangibly rich players, players who are tough and love to play football.

LeQuint Allen has been everything the Jaguars bargained and then some
You hardly ever expect seventh-round selections to become key contributors, let alone do it early on in their NFL career. But that's precisely what LeQuint Allen has been for the Jaguars. Sure, he probably won't start any games any time soon, and numbers won't pop off the stat sheet. Having said that, the former Syracuse Orangeman has already carved a niche on the Jacksonville offense as a blocking specialist.
Head coach Liam Coen hasn't hesitated to heap praise on Allen, highlighting his chopping blocks. Here's a clip of him containing, Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn in a blitz.

Keep in mind that Allen's blocking prowess isn't seeing the light of day now. That's one of the parts of his game that has stood out dating back to his collegiate career.

With Tank Bigby now goine, LeQuint Allen is now poised to have an even bigger role with the Jaguars. But even if the Jaguars hadn't made the trade, it wouldn't have been a matter of time before the rookie running back moved up the depth chart.
