**The summer transfer window has been closed for nearly two weeks now, and things could have looked very different going into Saturday's clash between Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.**
Newcastle had been chasing Wolves forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, who had only just joined the Midlands club on a permanent deal in June.
For a while, it seemed like Newcastle were determined to get the Norwegian through the door at Newcastle before they worked out deals for Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa.
It would have made for an interesting talking point for Saturday's game had Strand Larsen's first game for Newcastle come against his old club.

Wolves ultimately kept hold of their star forward, much to the relief of boss Vitor Pereira, who confirmed in his press conference on Friday that the Norwegian will not feature on Saturday.

That could be bad news for the Toon, however, as it's more likely now that Hwang Hee-chan will start, and he just loves a goal against us.
Wolves have an awful record against Newcastle at St James' Park. You have to go back to 2028/19 for the last time they left the north east with three points.
It's the perfect game for Newcastle to kick-start their season after a slow start.
