The Philadelphia Eagles picked up a significant win to begin their season as reigning NFL champions, defeating the Dallas Cowboys.
However, concerns began mounting this week that the Eagles might lose tight end Dallas Goedert to an injury.
In their 24-20 win against their division rival, Jalen Hurts targeted Goedert seven times, the most of any receiver.
Goedert was perfect, catching all seven passes for 44 yards, as he remains one of the popular targets for Hurts.
Unfortunately, Philadelphia's star tight end also suffered a knee sprain, causing him to miss all of the team's practices this week.
According to The Athletic's Brooks Kubena, Goedert missed a third-straight Eagles practice on Friday. Kubena indicated it seemed unlikely Goedert would be available for Sunday's game.
Philadelphia heads to Kansas City, looking to improve to a perfect 2-0 against a Chiefs team trying to bounce back from their Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Last season, Goedert had 42 receptions for 496 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles. Hurts completed two passes to him for 27 yards in the team's 40-22 Super Bowl LIX win over the Chiefs.
With Goedert likely to miss this Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs in Week 2, it should mean Grant Calcaterra and Kylen Granson play more at tight end.
The Eagles also have E.J. Jenkins and Cameron Latu available from the practice squad, if they need to move them to the roster. Additionally, wide receiver Jahan Dotson could see more time on the field in Week 2.
In addition to Goedert not practicing on Friday, NBC Sports Philadelphia reported that running back Will Shipley and offensive tackle Cameron Williams also missed practice. Shipley has an oblique injury, while Williams has a shoulder injury.
While Goedert's injury is certainly a significant one for the Eagles, it seems they have enough offensive weapons to make up for it. They're currently favored to win the away game by 1.5 points over Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
