Packers fans flock to support Jayden Reed after injured receiver’s hopeful tweet

Jayden Reed was already banged up when he broke his collarbone on the opening drive of Thursday Night Football. The Packers receiver sat out most of training camp dealing with a foot fracture, an issue he decided to deal with week-to-week rather than miss time due to surgery. Playing hurt in Week 1, Reed brought in three catches for 45 yards.

As fate would have it, the new injury means he’ll have to miss extended time anyway. Speaking postgame, head coach Matt LaFleur suggested that Reed could still return before season’s end, a possibility both he and fans have latched onto as a silver lining. Had Reed suffered the injury late in the year, he would have no chance of coming back for the playoffs.

On social media, the third-year receiver leaned into the positive side of the situation.

I’ll be back 🙏🏾

Fans in the comment section flocked to his support, extending well wishes for a speedy recovery in time, the Packers hope, for a Super Bowl run in January.

Reed’s post inspires widespread support from Packers land and beyond

It’s a frustrating scenario. The play on which Reed suffered the injury, which would have been a touchdown, didn’t even count due to a holding call on tackle Anthony Belton. Nonetheless, the response to Reed’s post was overwhelmingly positive.

we’ll see you for the Super Bowl run ❤️

“Can’t wait to have you back man,” one comment read. “That was a helluva catch!” For a would-be 39-yard reception, Reed held on to the ball despite slamming into the ground with a defender on top of him.

The former Spartans receiver even drew support from enemy territory in the NFC North.

I’m a Bears fan but also a Michigan State fan. Come back better than ever! Go Green!

A second-round pick in 2023, Reed entered the season as the team’s de facto No. 1 receiver. In his absence, Green Bay will rely on rookies Matthew Golden and Savion Williams, plus third-year man Dontayvion Wicks, to hold down the fort.

Romeo Doubs and Tucker Kraft, whose Thursday performance was a career-best, become the clear-cut leaders of the pass-catching corps. At some point, the Packers will also get Christian Watson back, but who returns first – he or Reed – remains to be seen.
