The Atlanta Falcons will look to bounce back from a tough Week 1 loss in their Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Fortunately, they will have their top two wide receivers at their disposal to attempt to do so.
Drake London popped up on the Falcons' injury report throughout most of the week, dealing with a shoulder injury. In doing so, he joined fellow Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney, who missed Week 1 with a shoulder injury as well.
Both London and Mooney will be able to suit up for their Sunday Night Football matchup in Minnesota, both practicing in full on Friday and having their injury designations removed on the team's injury report, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Last season was Mooney's first with the Falcons. And he showed that alongside London, the two provide an extremely dynamic receiving duo for the team.
Both London and Mooney had career-best seasons, with London hauling in 100 receptions for 1,271 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns. Mooney, meanwhile, was just under the 1,000-yard receiving yards mark at 992 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.
Having both Mooney and London at his disposal is certainly a key for Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. as he attempts to take a step forward in his development in his second season in the NFL.
Penix Jr. famously faced off against Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy in the 2024 National Championship during each of their collegiate playing days, with McCarthy's Michigan Wolverines getting the better of Penix's Washington Huskies.
Now, Penix Jr. will look to rewrite history in his latest rematch against McCarthy. And having both London and Mooney on the field should certainly help him attempt to do just that.
