Quinyon Mitchell catches break for Eagles in Week 2 with Chiefs injury update

Sunday's Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl rematch is going to feel a little different for cornerback Quinyon Mitchell.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy is listed as doubtful for the game on Sunday. Worthy is dealing with a dislocated shoulder injury that he suffered in the Chiefs' Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers after colliding with tight end Travis Kelce on a passing route.

Kansas City is already down two top receivers with Rashee Rice also going to miss the game as part of his six-game suspension he is currently serving. Worthy did not record a catch last week with only one target in his direction.

Who could Mitchell be facing on Sunday against the Chiefs at receiver?

The next two men up for the Chiefs are Hollywood Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster at wide receiver. Mitchell will most likely be lined up against Brown, as the Eagles had mentioned before the season that Mitchell would lock up against number-one receivers. That did not happen in their 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 as he switched between CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

Philly's bigger concern is how CB2 starter Adoree' Jackson will do against Brown or Smith-Schuster. Jackson had a tough debut, allowing over 100 yards receiving on five catches against the Cowboys.

With the Chiefs' wide receiver room so banged up, look for Kelce to get more targets from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. That will add more weight on Zack Baun and Jihaad Campbell to lock Kelce up in pass coverage, unless safeties Reed Blankenship or rookie Andrew Mukuba handle those duties.
