Former Michigan and current Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy has had one hell of a week.
After taking down the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football with a historic fourth-quarter comeback, McCarthy and his fiancée Katya Kuropas welcomed their first child into this world a few days later.
They had a boy and named him Rome — sounds like a future Buckeye killer, just like his dad.
McCarthy led the Vikings to an improbable 27-24 victory over the Bears on Monday. McCarthy threw two touchdown passes and ran for another touchdown in the game’s final frame. It was the first time in NFL history that a quarterback led a comeback down 10 points or more on the road to start the fourth quarter. He was also the fifth player since the NFL’s merger in 1970 — and the first since Cam Newton in 2011 — to throw for at least two touchdowns and run for one in his NFL debut. Incredibly, he was the only one to do that in the fourth quarter alone.
McCarthy is expected to play on Sunday for the Vikings in their home game against Atlanta.
Congratulations to J.J. and Katya on the birth of their first child!
