Senne Lammens arrived to join Manchester United on deadline day but he will have to wait to make his Premier League debut.
Ahead of the Manchester derby this weekend, Ruben Amorim confirmed that Altay Bayindir will start in goal at the Etihad Stadium.
Andre Onana’s loan move to Trabzonspor was confirmed this week, with many believing that £18m signing Senne Lammens will step up to become first choice.
That may still be the case this season, but he will have to be patient for his debut. Lammens has an elite mentality and he has worked hard to get to where he is.
Well before United’s interest, Lammens was learning from the very best.

Senne Lammens studied elite goalkeeping trio
Lammens boasts incredible statistics that rank him among the best shot-stoppers in the league. Ineos stuck to their data-driven approach when deciding to sign him over the likes of Emiliano Martinez.
However, the only concern around Lammens is whether or not he can handle the pressure of being United’s No.1 at such a young age.
But early reports around Lammens show that, despite his age, he has a wise head on his shoulders. He has already spent the majority of his career studying others.

According to The Times, Lammens studied Thibaut Courtois because of his reflexes, Marc-Andre ter Stegen for his shot-stopping and Simon Mignolet for his diet and dedication in the gym.
Considering all three of those players have won the Champions League at Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool respectively, he is learning from the very best.
Senne Lammens derby decision is the right call
Amorim might have raised a few eyebrows when he announced in his press conference that Bayindir will start against Manchester City on Sunday.
But fans have already seen that Andre Onana’s confidence was shattered and Bayindir has also suffered from the spotlight that comes with being United’s goalkeeper.
Lammens could have made his debut in the derby, but it would have put a crushing pressure on him to perform.

One bad performance would have caused an avalanche of criticism that is incredibly hard to come back from.
As Amorim points out, Lammens is United’s goalkeeper of the future, there is no rush to bring him in as a starter when he is still settling in at the club.
