Eagles' biggest flaw entering Week 2 Chiefs showdown is painfully obvious

It's Week 2 in the NFL, and Bleacher Report has revealed its list of each team's biggest problem going into its following slate of games.

For the Eagles, Bleacher Report's writer Brad Gagnon believes that Philadelphia's most significant issues are "curses, hangovers, etc," as they prepare for the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday. Gagnon believes that while the Eagles did "take care of business" in Week 1, defeating the dysfunctional and disorganized Dallas Cowboys team, if we are being frank, the two seam routes and Miles Sanders fumbled away from possibly defeating Philadelphia.

"The defending champs took care of business in the season opener, but merely surviving at home against an inferior Cowboys team that just traded away its best defensive player isn't something to brag about.

The Eagles are likely aware that only one team has successfully defended a Super Bowl win in the last two decades, and that the NFC East hasn't had a repeat champion in just as long. Both trends are working against Philly, and the team got off to a slightly awkward start.

Outlook: They'll need to be more crisp against the Chiefs at Arrowhead, particularly in the secondary. Kansas City is lacking in the receiving corps but Patrick Mahomes needs this, and you get the feeling Washington is going to be all over the Eagles in the NFC East this year."

How the Eagles can overcome their biggest flaw and start 2-0

The Eagles have the difficult test of trying to accomplish an extremely rare feat. One, repeat as Super Bowl champions, and two, repeat as NFC East champions. The former has only been performed once in the last twenty years, while the latter was achieved by the Eagles when they won four consecutive division titles from 2001 to 2004.

The Eagles are considered the "top-dog" in the NFC by many in the media; however, repeating is extremely difficult. Players will often win Super Bowl championship teams, often due to free agency, retirement, or other factors, when they keep a championship "core" for a second consecutive season.

The Eagles now go into Kansas City to face off against Patrick Mahomes and a wounded receiving corps. The Eagles themselves have plenty of holes to fix, especially in the secondary, with Adoree' Jackson being the weak link at corner and Andrew Mukuba still learning in his first year.

With an arsenal of Travis Kelce, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Hollywood Brown, the Chiefs do possess a favorable matchup against a secondary that allowed CeeDee Lamb to record seven receptions for 110 yards. Honestly, if he had not had three drops in the game, he would have had an even more impressive stat line.

Super Bowl hangovers certainly exist, and for the Eagles, they may have been involved with one in their opening matchup. However, as the team prepares to travel to Kansas City, they'll need to be on their "A" game if they hope to come out on top against the Chiefs.
