RENTON — Sunday’s Seahawks-Steelers game in Pittsburgh will in part come down to which team can overcome being short-handed in its secondary.
As expected, the Seahawks ruled out rookie safety Nick Emmanwori because of a high-ankle sprain suffered Sunday at Pittsburgh.
Seattle also listed starting cornerback Devon Witherspoon as doubtful because of a knee injury.
The good news for the Seahawks is that every other player was listed as good to go, which includes safety Julian Love, who sat out Thursday because of a groin issue.
The Steelers ruled out starting cornerback Joey Porter (hamstring) and safety DeShon Elliott as well as rookie defensive tackle Derrick Harmon.
Elliott left last week’s game against the Jets because of a knee injury, and the Steelers signed veteran Jabrill Peppers this week to help replace him.
Porter was also injured during the Steelers’ 34-32 win over the Jets, meaning the Steelers may again rely mostly on veterans Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay with veteran Brandin Echols.
Porter is the son of former Steelers linebacker Joey Porter who was a member of the Pittsburgh team that beat Seattle in Super Bowl XV.
Emmanwori was injured on the first series of Sunday’s 17-13 loss to the 49ers, and Witherspoon was banged up in the fourth quarter but continued to play the remainder of the game.
Seattle coach Mike Macdonald will address the media after practice.
