One of the most anticipated early-season matchups in recent NFL history is set to take place on Sunday as the Philadelphia Eagles will head into Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. This game is a rematch of Super Bowl LIX, when the Eagles took down the Chiefs in blowout fashion.
These two teams also met in Super Bowl LVII, which the Chiefs won. Now, the rivalry will be restored in a Week 2 game of enormous proportions.
Because of the recent history between them and the global brand that both the Chiefs and Eagles bring to the stage, Fox has predicted a big audience for Sunday’s game.

Fox, which is covering the Super Bowl rematch at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday, is projecting around 30 million viewers will tune in, according to The Athletic’s Richard Deitsch.
If this game reaches the viewership Fox projects, it would be the most-watched Week 2 NFL game since the league started tracking TV ratings full-time in 1988. Last season’s contest between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Chiefs was the most viewed Week 2 game during that stretch at 27.87 million viewers.
This projection comes after the NFL had its best Week 1, viewership-wise, since the tracking began, as the league averaged 22.3 million viewers per game.
Sunday will mark the 11th time in NFL history that Super Bowl opponents will meet in the following season and just the fourth time in the first two weeks.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts and the Eagles come into this matchup with a 1-0 record after beating the Dallas Cowboys 24-20 on opening night in Week 1, while Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are coming off a 27-21 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil.
No matter the result of Sunday’s game, it will undoubtedly bring in tens of millions of viewers.
