Thomas Frank gives update on Simons and Kolo Muani ahead of trip to West Ham

Tottenham resume their Premier League campaign with a trip to London rivals West Ham United on Saturday evening. This game gives them a great opportunity to bounce back and continue their progress under Thomas Frank.

Giving his team news, Frank has now lifted the lid on the likelihood of both Simons and Kolo Muani being involved against West Ham at the London Stadium.

“Both are looking good. Both are in contention to be ready for the squad tomorrow. Xavi for the natural reasons is further down the line. He started for the Netherlands the other day. Randal hasn’t played for a while, last time was the Club World Cup,” Frank said in his pre-match press conference.

Simons was called up to the Netherlands squad for the World Cup qualifiers. The creative midfielder featured in the 1-1 draw with Poland but was an unused substitute in the Oranje’s 3-2 win over Lithuania, meaning he should be fresh for this game. Meanwhile, Kolo Muani was not involved with the France national team and so stayed in north London to train with the remaining players.

Simons has been signed to shoulder much of Tottenham’s creative burden, in the injury absences of Maddison and Kulusevski, and with fixtures set to come thick and fast, the Dutch talent must hit the ground running in the Premier League. As for Kolo Muani, he has not played since the Club World Cup and is expected to be carefully integrated into the squad.
