DETROIT, Mich. (WNEM) - The Detroit Lions’ home opener this weekend comes with more than just football. Ford Field is once again opening its sensory room, designed to give fans with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and other sensory sensitivities a chance to enjoy the game without being overwhelmed.
Hope Network’s Center for Autism operates the room, which offers a quiet environment where guests can decompress, regulate, and rejoin the stadium experience at their own pace.
The sensory room is equipped with noise-cancelling headphones, fidget kits, color-changing wall tiles, and sensory swings. It is staffed by Hope Network professionals who work daily with children and families on the autism spectrum.
The space, located near guest services at Gate A, will be open for every Lions home game and other large-scale events at Ford Field. The project was funded by the Fredi the PizzaMan Foundation for Autism.
For families who need it, the sensory room underscores Ford Field’s push to make sure every fan can be part of game day.
