Bryan Mbeumo has already done against Man City what Man Utd need him to do in the derby

Manchester United resume their Premier League campaign with a trip to fierce rivals Manchester City.

The Red Devils picked up their first win of the season before the international break in a 3-2 victory over Burnley.

Bryan Mbeumo starred against Burnley and scored his first goal in the Premier League for Manchester United since his £65m move from Brentford in the summer.

Mbeumo was United’s best summer signing, and there will be big pressure on him to step up and perform at the Etihad Stadium.

Thankfully for Ruben Amorim, his track record against Pep Guardiola’s side is impressive.

Bryan Mbeumo contributed to winner vs Man City

During his time at Brentford, Bryan Mbeumo was often the focal point up front and he has grown to become one of the most prolific forwards in the Premier League.

Back in the 2022/23 campaign, Mbeumo and his Brentford side recorded a double over Manchester City, and in one of those victories, the Cameroon international played a major role in the winning goal.

Late into the match, Mbeumo connected with a cross and headed it back to Ethan Pinnock to score the winner against City.

On Sunday afternoon, Amorim will be hoping for a similar outcome with Mbeumo now lining up for United.

Bryan Mbeumo’s record vs Man City

Sunday will mark Mbeumo’s first involvement in a Manchester derby alongside new signings Senne Lammens, Diego Leon, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha – depending on whether or not they are involved.

It will be their first taste of the historic Manchester derby, and a win would take United to four points clear of their fierce rivals in the Premier League table.

However, Mbeumo has faced City five times throughout his career, and his record against Pep Guardiola’s side is impressive.
