Manchester United dealt blow in pursuit of £35m PL midfielder who recently made international…

Nottingham Forest will not entertain any bids to part ways with 22-year-old English international Elliot Anderson amid his links with Manchester United.

According to an update by Football Insider, Nottingham Forest will unlikely entertain any bids to part ways with Elliot Anderson next year. Recent reports have linked the newly-capped English international with Manchester United. However, the Tricky Trees have no interest in parting ways with the youngster, with Ange Postecoglou “desperate” to keep his squad’s best players at the City Ground.

Elliot Anderson and his meteoric rise

Elliot Anderson has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since joining Nottingham Forest from Newcastle United in a deal worth £35 million last year. A native of Whitley Bay, the Englishman spent his formative years in his homeland, starting his youth career at Wallsend Boys Club before graduating from the youth division at Newcastle United.

However, Newcastle United’s struggles to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules forced the Tyneside outfit to sell Anderson to Nottingham Forest. While the move was a setback for the 22-year-old, he has not looked back since moving to the Midlands club, going from strength to strength in the last 14 months.

Anderson has made nearly 50 appearances thus far for Nottingham Forest while chipping in with two goals and seven assists. The youngster’s exploits for the high-flying Premier League club helped him break into his national side this month. Meanwhile, the English international’s progress has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Manchester United.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Manchester United’s interest in Elliot Anderson is understandable. The Red Devils are desperate to sign a holding midfielder next year after failing to secure Carlos Baleba’s services in the summer transfer window. However, with Casemiro approaching the twilight of his career and Manuel Ugarte failing to make his mark since joining Manchester United, they need a defensive midfielder.

While Baleba remains a target for Manchester United, Anderson is also an option worth considering. However, a deal for the Nottingham Forest midfielder will unlikely materialise, as the Tricky Trees have no interest in parting ways with the 22-year-old Englishman.

Newly-appointed Nottingham Forest manager Ange Postecoglou is “desperate” to keep his squad’s best players at the City Ground. So, the high-flying Premier League club will resist any and every approach for Anderson, thus dealing a blow to Manchester United’s prospects.
