Club football is finally back after the dreaded international break, and Manchester United have a difficult test on the horizon against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. They might not have started the season well Amorim will know better than to underestimate them.

The Red Devils got a much-needed win against Burnley just before the break, a 3-2 win at the death, thanks to a penalty from Bruno Fernandes. Although the performances have offered promise, it amounts to nothing without results.

News –Report – Amorim dreams of signing £650,000 a year star for Manchester United

Ahead of the game, Ruben Amorim confirmed that a trio of players who started the Burnley game – Mason Mount, Matheus Cunha and Diogo Dalot will miss this game with injuries. He also revealed that Altay Bayindir will continue in goal.

With all this in mind, here is Man Utd’s strongest possible XI to take the field against Man City. Bayindir has been confirmed inbetween the posts and the backline could see the same personnel that started against Burnley – Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw.

Against an attack-minded, strong opponent, Noussair Mazraoui could get the nod ahead of Amad Diallo on the right. Patrick Dorgu should come back in for the injured Dalot on the left and he would be the attacking outlet on the left.

In defensive midfield, Amorim has placed his trust in Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro so far and in all likelihood, that’s how it looks set to continue against Man City. The latter can be replaced by Manuel Ugarte in the second half.

In the attack, two changes are expected with Mount and Cunha dropping out. In their absence, Benjamin Sesko is in line for his first start as a Man Utd player and Joshua Zirkzee could come in to replace Mount on the left.
