Liverpool have been in fine form this season, with the club winning all three of their Premier League games so far.
Indeed, they may have lost the Community Shield against Crystal Palace at the start of the season, but since this is seen as a glorified friendly by most, Liverpool’s fans haven’t been all that worried.
Several members of Arne Slot’s first-team squad have put in impressive performances this term, and now that there are more or less two players who deserve to start in every position, the competition within the squad has never been so high.
Although the Reds’ main goal this term will likely be to win the Champions League, they’ll also want to retain the Premier League title to try and prove themselves as the best team in the world.
And, with players such as Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz now among their ranks, it’s clear to see why they want to be seen like that.

However, it’s neither of them that Slot must start against Burnley in their next Premier League clash.
Dominik Szoboszlai has to find a way into Liverpool’s starting XI v Burnley
Although Dominik Szoboszlai has been playing out of position since the start of the 2025-26 season, the form he has shown has been exceptional.
The midfielder has been used at right-back by Slot due to the injuries that Joe Gomez, Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong all suffered.
MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
Although he may not be as fast as the three aforementioned players, his defensive contributions and keen eye for a pass have made him one of Liverpool’s best players this season.
His 32-yard free-kick goal against Arsenal was what made the Reds leave Anfield with all three points to their name, and, although he’s faced some top-class wingers this term, they’ve hardly had a say in the games that have been played.
However, with Gomez, Bradley and Frimpong all back in action and with Alexis Mac Allister also on the cusp of full fitness, it’s hard to see where Slot will fit him in.
Because, at the end of the day, now that Liverpool have spent over £400million on new players this summer, they have plenty of quality across the entirety of their team, which will no doubt make it difficult for Slot to choose who deserves to start or not.
Dominik Szoboszlai could help unlock Liverpool’s attack against Burnley
As mentioned, not only has Szoboszlai been one of Liverpool’s best-performing players this season, but his range of passing and keen eye for goal could be key in Liverpool unlocking Burnley’s defence.
Scott Parker’s men have only managed to win one out of their first three games so far in the Premier League, with their only victory coming against Sunderland.
Indeed, the Clarets have had a tough time of it with their other two games coming against Tottenham and Manchester United.

And, now that they’re set to face Liverpool, things are expected to go from bad to worse for Parker’s men.
In Liverpool’s case, Szoboszlai brings an extra layer of creativity to the game and, with the way things have panned out for the Reds in their games so far, the more chances they get, the better.
At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen, but for now, it feels like Szoboszlai should start no matter what.
That is, especially since Slot has dubbed him an “unbelievable” player himself.
