Manchester City’s Rayan Aït-Nouri will be out for around five weeks due to an ankle injury.
The club confirmed in a statement released on Friday that Aït-Nouri, along with Omar Marmoush and Rayan Cherki, will miss the Manchester Derby on Sunday.
The Algerian international did not feature for his nation in their recent FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The Desert Foxes claimed a 3-1 win over Botswana last Thursday before playing out a goalless draw with Guinea on Monday.
Algeria sit top of group G on 19 points, four points ahead of second-place Uganda and are poised to secure their spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Desert Foxes could secure their place at the tournament with one win from their last two qualifying fixtures.
City are 13th in the Premier League after three games, having won their opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers before falling to Tottenham and Brighton. The Sky Blues have just three points so far after an uncharacteristic start to the season.
Aït-Nouri joined City from Wolves as their first signing of the 2025 summer transfer window in a deal worth up to £36 million including add-ons.
The club will be without five players this weekend as John Stones is doubtful to appear while Mateo Kovacic remains sidelined.
