Player asked about mega offer from Brentford – Explains what he told manager

Towards the end of the summer window, the German media covered Brentford’s interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Maximilian Beier.

On August 28th, Bild reported an agent on behalf of the Bees had expressed their desire to sign the 22-year-old. A day later, journalist Patrick Berger explained Brentford had sent a bid of £45m and it was turned down by the Bundesliga club.

Earlier today, Ruhr Nachrichten reported Brentford were very interested in Beier, but BVB never carried out negotiations with the English club and stopped his potential exit after finding out that their new signing, Fábio Silva, was injured.

Eurosport interviewed the Germany international and asked whether there was a possibility to leave the Bundesliga club in the recently concluded window, amid claims of the Premier League side’s interest.

Fussball Transfers have relayed his comments, and they mentioned a reported proposal of £60.5m from the Premier League club. They probably could be exaggerating the figures here.

The attacker said he was aware of reports linking him with a Borussia Dortmund exit and had a chat with their manager, Niko Kovač, to discuss his future.

“I noticed that some reports were circulating. I also had to listen to a few comments from my teammates. I spoke to Niko about it, and he told me quite clearly that I should stay here. I also made it clear to him during the conversation that I had no intention of leaving and wanted to stay in Dortmund,” he said.

Beier managed an assist from two games for Borussia Dortmund this season.
