Michael Kayode joined Brentford on loan from Fiorentina in January, and the Bees exercised their option to buy him permanently this summer.
After an initial period of adaptation and injuries, he has now been a key part of the side under Keith Andrews. The Italian has started every Premier League tie at right-back, also featuring in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup.
The 21-year-old has spoken to [CalcioPremier](https://www.calciopremier.com/kayode-a-cp-al-brentford-mi-hanno-gestito-bene-che-mondo-la-premier/) about a host of things regarding life in England.
When asked about Thomas Frank’s exit to Tottenham and the arrival of Andrews, the defender said:
_“Great. In the end, the manager we have now arrived in January. He was sort of our third manager. He took care of set pieces and throw-ins._ _So we all knew him already,_ _and in the end he became the new manager, which is fine with us._
_“Obviously, Frank, who is a really good manager, has managed me very well since I arrived and we’ve talked a lot. He deserves to be there (at Tottenham)._ _Andrews brought something different_ _, but in the end, not much has changed.”_
Kayode further spoke of how Frank helped him settle in at Brentford in the second half of last season.
_“Frank_ _integrated me straight away_ _, obviously I came here fully aware of what I was getting into. I knew I wouldn’t always play from the start, that would have been a dream. I had to earn my place, Frank managed me very well. I never played at Fiorentina, and I had spoken to the manager. But throwing myself straight in would have been a risk. I_ _wasn’t ready at that moment__, physically and tactically, Serie A and the Premier League are totally different.”_
The Italy U21s player revealed that he had to take a while to adjust to a new environment.
_“For me too, playing straight away was a risk. I had a month to watch and talk a lot. Then there’s the different language and the different country. I often came on at the end, and then when I should have started I got injured. When I came back I played the match against Arsenal, which went well,_ _and I’ve played ever since__.”_
Kayode was also asked about summer signing Jordan Henderson and his impact at the London club so far.
_“__Having Henderson here is incredible for us__, you could see it right away. He won a Champions League as Liverpool captain, so he gives us a lot. I’ve spoken to him a lot, and we work together, it’s good to have someone like him.”_
It is clear that the ex-Fiorentina player is now starting to enjoy life at the Bees, having faced some fitness issues last season. In Italy, Kayode has also shown enough versatility to play at left-back and left wing-back. This can prove key as the season wears on.
He showed enough ability towards the end of Frank’s stint to suggest that he can become a key player for Brentford. Having said that, staying clear of injuries is likely to determine how the defender fares in the season.
