Opta Supercomputer predicts Ange Postecoglou's chances of defeating Arsenal in first Nottingham Forest game

Ange Postecoglou will lead Nottingham Forest for the first time today in the Premier League, and he is hoping to provide an upset against one of the title contenders.

Postecoglou was named Nottingham Forest’s new manager during the international break, replacing former boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Given Santo’s success at the City Ground, the former Tottenham Hotspur boss joins the club with plenty of pressure on his shoulders to continue that trajectory.

Postecoglou could make Nottingham Forest history by guiding the club to their first-ever Premier League win against Arsenal away from home, but the odds may not be in his favour.

Nottingham Forest are not expected to defeat Arsenal

It is set to be a tough start to life as Nottingham Forest boss for Postecoglou, as an away fixture against Arsenal is one of the most challenging opening games he could ask for.

The Opta analyst and their supercomputer are proving that, giving Nottingham Forest just a 15 per cent chance of defeating Arsenal this weekend.

Nottingham Forest’s history is also against them at the Emirates Stadium. They have lost their last six away games against the Gunners by an aggregate score of 19-2.

In addition, Arsenal haven’t lost back-to-back Premier League games since December 2023, and Mikel Arteta will aim to get his team back to winning ways after losing against Liverpool.

The supercomputer has given Arsenal a whopping 66.9 per cent chance of defeating Nottingham Forest, which wouldn’t be an ideal start for Postecoglou’s tenure.

Nottingham Forest fans will get a taste of Ange Postecoglou’s style

Whether Nottingham Forest win, lose, or draw against the Gunners remains to be seen, but one thing fans are guaranteed to see is Postecoglou’s trademark attacking style of football.

TBR Football previously revealed that Evangelos Marinakis wants an attack-minded style at the club, and Postecoglou is notorious for delivering that.

While he’s only had a limited amount of time working with the full squad due to the international break, he will undoubtedly have already started implementing his ideas.
