Matty Cash comments on the deadline day arrivals to Aston Villa’s squad

Matty Cash is convinced Aston Villa can bounce back from a winless start to the season at Everton. With three “really sharp" additions to the squad, they could now have the options to get over the line.

‘Winning is the most important thing’

The Villans drew 0-0 at **Goodison Park**in January 2024, and only an Ollie Watkins would separate the two teams in their last meeting. So, Cash is aware that this clash could be another tight affair.

“Everton* away has always been a tough game, even at Goodison Park. They bring good atmosphere, they get behind the team. Playing at a new stadium, it will be interesting to see what it’s like there.”*

The good times with David Moyes look like they will continue. **Everton**have earned two 2-0 victories at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and strive to hold onto their flawless record on Saturday.

It is the job of the visitors to focus on themselves and get their campaign kicked into a higher gear.

“Playing in a new stadium will be good as well, but most importantly for us is to go there, put on a good performance, try and score goals, and a win is the most important thing for us this weekend.”

The right back scored for **Poland**against the **Netherlands**and Finland, something that Villa did not achieve across their three outings in August. Tomorrow has to be the time that the script changes.

“Focus on ourselves, try and get back to where we were at the back end of last season – picking up results, getting good wins away from home, being solid at the back, creating chances going forward.”

Cash confirmed the squad have been going back to basics upon the return from international duty.

“I know we’ve all been away, but the few days we’ve been here together, that’s been the goal really.”

Three new faces from the Premier League have also appeared in their ranks. Victor Lindelof left **Man United**at the end of his deal to add more depth in their defence, Jadon Sancho is now in the Midlands after being banished to 'bomb squad' of the Red Devils, and Harvey Elliott has entered a loan agreement for the year that will precede a £35 million move to Aston Villa next summer.

“I came in on Tuesday and had a few days training with them. They looked really sharp. It is really good to have them in the group: great experience, great players. We have welcomed them hopefully well and they’ve settled in quite quickly, and hopefully they can transform it onto the pitch.”
