The second Sunday of the NFL season brings several former UCF players back into the global spotlight with contributing roles to play for their respective squads. Here's a rundown of the former Knights in action:
MORE: Third & Long: Bye-Bye, Miss American Pie
Kalia Davis - 49ers - DT
Expect Davis to continue being a key piece of San Francisco's run defense. He served that role well in the 49ers' season-opening win against Seattle.
San Francisco travels to New Orleans to face the Saints for a 1 p.m. ET battle on FOX.
Shaquill Griffin - Seahawks - DB
Griffin was added to the Seahawks' active roster this week with a promotion from the practice squad. He spent four seasons with the Seahawks to begin his pro career from 2017 to 2020, earning a pro bowl nod in 2019. He spent last season with the Minnesota Vikings, seeing time in 17 games with two interceptions, six pass breakups, and 41 tackles.
"He's done a great job. He's right there. You know, if some some things were to happen, he'd be the next guy in the game," Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said this week. "He's rearing, ready to go. Practicing great."
Seattle plays at the Steelers at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
RJ Harvey - Broncos - RB
Harvey had a solid first regular-season game for Denver last week and he looks to continue his growing role in a multi-faceted Broncos backfield.
"He's talented, of course, but you know whenever I try to help him, he listens," Harvey's backfield mate J.K. Dobbins said of the former Knight this week. "He's willing to learn. He's humble, and he's a great guy. So I'm always rooting for him...I just want to win. So, he can help us win and that's where we're going with it."
Denver plays at Indianapolis this week with kickoff scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET on CBS.
Mike Hughes - Falcons - CB
Hughes had two tackles and broke up a pass last week in an Atlanta loss in which he played every defensive snap.
The Falcons have the Sunday night game this week at Minnesota on NBC. Hughes will have to deal with a Minnesota offense led by former Michigan star J.J. McCarthy, who engineered a comeback win over the Bears last week.
Charley Hughlett - Eagles - Long Snapper
Hughlett continues his role with the reigning champions this week after helping them start the season 1-0 last Thursday.
The Eagles have the Chiefs this week in a rematch of last season's Super Bowl.
Mac McWilliams - Eagles - CB
Will this be the game we see McWilliams get his first defensive snaps for the Eagles? McWilliams played one special teams snap for Philadelphia last week, but did not register any stats.
Matt Prater - Buffalo Bills - Kicker
Prater was a last-minute signing for the Bills prior to last weekend's win over the Baltimore Ravens and made a 32-yarder late to win the game. Prater continues with the Bills this weekend with a divisional contest at the Jets at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
Alex Ward - Rams - Long Snapper
Ward continues his first season on the Rams this week following last week's win over the Houston Texans.
The Rams are in Nashville this week to take on the Titans at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
