Tyrell Malacia has been included in Manchester United’s 25-man Premier League squad after failing to secure a move in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United had a bomb squad this summer, consisting of five players who were deemed surplus to requirements under Ruben Amorim.
The outcasts included Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia.
While Rashford and Sancho left on temporary deals, Garnacho and Antony secured permanent switches away from Old Trafford.
That means Malacia was the only member of the five-man ‘bomb squad’ who will remain at United for the foreseeable future, despite engaging in talks with multiple clubs over the summer.

Tyrell Malacia’s failure to find a new club
Malacia had no shortage of interest, despite failing to find a new club in the summer.
Talks took place with La Liga side Elche before collapsing, with the same happening when Turkish side Eyüpspor, despite reaching an agreement with United for the left-back.
Turkish reporter Reşat Can Özbudak claims Eyüpspor sent a representative to Manchester before learning that Malacia did not want to move to the Super Lig.
More United News
United In Focus understands that a couple of clubs in Greece held talks with United and Malacia, including the newly promoted AEL.
Earlier in the month, Malacia was also offered to Pafos in Cyprus by intermediaries ahead of their Champions League campaign, but nothing came of it.
Talks also took place with Belgian Pro League clubs, but Malacia was not keen on the move.
In conversation with UiF, Graeme Bailey said: “Malacia, whilst not in Ruben Amorim’s plans is a hard worker with a good attitude, and yes he was part of the ‘bomb squad’ but unlike other members it was not attitude based it was just as it was perceived he would be leaving.
“But now he will have something of a chance, could he be involved on the bench especially – it is possible but he has a long way.”
Interestingly, Malacia has made United’s 25-man Premier League squad for the 2025/26 season.
When did Malacia last play for Man Utd?
Malacia’s last United appearance came in their final group stage match of the 2024/25 Europa League against Romanian side FCSB.
After that, Amorim decided to send Malacia on loan to PSV Eindhoven.
PSV won the Eredivisie, but Malacia was often overlooked at left-back, and they decided to send him back to Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Malacia’s game time will be limited as United are no longer competing in the Carabao Cup.
