Bukayo Saka Could Make Arsenal Injury Comeback In Huge Premier League Fixture

Arsenal are hoping to have Bukayo Saka back available for the match against Manchester City on September 21st, according to reports.

The winger sustained a hamstring injury during the win over Leeds last month, and there was optimism that he would return within 4 weeks.

The Independent (via Arsenalnews.co.uk) claim that the Gunners are anticipating Saka’s comeback for the City fixture, which is just under a month since he was sidelined.

It would be a massive boost if the England international is fit for the fixture at the Emirates.

What has Arteta said about Saka’s injury?

Speaking in his pre-match press conference before the game against Nottingham Forest, manager Mikel Arteta said that they wouldn’t be rushing the player back into action:

“Bukayo’s out, still out, and he’s trying to get back as quick as possible, but we need to respect that process.”

“He’s evolving really well, with very specific work at the moment, and the moment we increase that load, let’s see how he reacts.”

Arsenal don’t need to rush Saka back

The 24-year-old is an extremely important player, and in previous years, the Gunners would have been keen to get him back in the starting eleven as soon as possible.

However, Arteta has a lot more depth in his squad this season, and the signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea means they have a more than able understudy who can provide suitable cover.

Madueke was given plenty of stick even before he had officially made the move across London, but he is proving to be a very useful addition to the squad.

When Saka returns to full fitness, he will know that he has a battle on his hands to keep his place on the right-hand side of Arsenal’s attack.
