Willy Gnonto pokes fun at Leeds United duo ahead of Fulham game

Leeds United’s Jayden Bogle and Willy Gnonto have been sharing their thoughts on a variety of topics, alongside goalkeeper Alex Cairns.

The Leeds United team faces a difficult challenge in terms of survival this season in the Premier League, but a strong spirit and camaraderie can go a long way to helping the team win points.

The likes of Willy Gnonto and Alex Cairns are renowned for their infectious personality, with the latter the club’s fourth-choice goalkeeper and there to maintain high spirits and to set the standards in training.

Daniel Farke’s coaching ability is another factor, but the Whites know they must be united this season. That is particularly crucial in the tough times, especially when knowing they will struggle to avoid losing more than drawing or winning.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Gnonto, Cairns, Bogle, Joel Piroe, and Sam Byram all discussed various topics to see if they could agree.

Firstly, they showcased their closeness as a group. They were each sharing a laugh and a joke about what they were asked. However, Gnonto was being particularly cheeky in the discussion.

They were asked who among them has the best haircut. Bogle said: “When I’ve got a trim, it’s game over.”

Gnonto, laughing, said: “Do you have a trim now?”

Bogle: “It’s like three days old.”

Gnonto continued to poke fun, stating: “Three days old, and that’s what it looks like?”

Piroe then questioned Cairns’ position, saying: “Cairnsy?”

Cairns replied: “What do you mean, mate? Honestly, if there was another one, I’d be going even further that way. So good. Mate, listen, I’m working with what I’ve got. You have a go every week.”

Gnonto laughed: “Enjoy your last trims, yeah.”

Cairns replied: “You can’t say that mic’d up.”

Piroe, also laughing, said: “On camera as well?”

Alex Cairns’ view of fellow Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier

Fellow keeper in the squad, Cairns explained how Meslier is truly feeling at the summer business and his position in the squad, especially with Lucas Perri coming in.

He said: “The absolute top (Meslier’s attitude). At the end of the day, he’s a professional footballer. He understands what happens in professional football.

“Myself, Karl (Darlow), and Illan have all been through difficult parts in our career. And I can honestly say he’s handled it absolutely brilliantly.

“He’s come out firing. At the end of the day, there’s no getting away from the fact he’s a top goalkeeper.”

Cairns’ role is to be a cheerleader in many ways, but characters of his type are vital to a dressing room. His comments on Meslier are the prime example of that.
