How Liverpool could line-up against Burnley in the Premier League at Turf Moor.

Liverpool return to action after the international break when they travel to Burnley on Sunday.

The Reds have made a perfect start to the Premier League title defence, having picked up nine points from their opening three games. Last time out, they delivered an early blow to Arsenal’s title hopes by delivering a 1-0 victory.

Plenty will agree that there is still more to come from Liverpool, including head coach Arne Slot. But it can be expected given the overturn of the squad - and there is set to be a new face involved against Burnley.

Alexander Isak finally completed his move to Anfield on transfer deadline day. The Reds paid a British record fee of £125 million from Newcastle United. But given the lack of training that the striker had in the summer, Slot has warned that Isak will take some time to get fully up to speed.

Slot will have decisions to make when it comes to his team, with most returning from international duty. The only player on the sidelines is Curtis Jones, with Jeremie Frimpong recovering from a hamstring issue.

With everything in mind, here’s the Liverpool team predicted to face Burnley.

GK - Alisson Becker

Only a penalty denied Liverpool's No.1 a pair of clean sheets for Brazil. He'll be hoping for back-to-back shutouts for the Reds.

RB - Conor Bradley

After an injury-hit start to the campaign, Bradley played twice for Northern Ireland during the international break which Slot would have been pleased to see. The 22-year-old should now be fully up to speed and capable of starting a Premier League game.

CB - Joe Gomez

Liverpool's longest-serving player was excellent when coming off the bench against Arsenal. Given that he did not play during the international break and Ibrahima Konate clocked up 180 minutes, it could see Gomez handed a first Premier League outing in 259 days.

CB - Virgil van Dijk

Played twice for the Netherlands during the break but that should be no issue for Liverpool's captain.

LB - Milos Kerkez

Had a really steady performance against Arsenal which should give the £40 million summer signing confidence.

CM - Ryan Gravenberch

Slot spoke of his gratitude that the former Ajax man only played once for the Netherlands. Liverpool have no player who have the same unique qualities.

CM - Dominik Szoboszlai

Been outstanding as a makeshift full-back in the past two games but Szoboszlai will want to return to the engine room. Alexis Mac Allister has a long journey back from South America and still may not be 100 per cent fit so it makes sense for Szoboszlai to feature in the middle of the park.

RW - Mo Salah

Liverpool’s talisman has had a subdued start to the campaign but he will be hoping to finally light the touchpaper.

AM - Florian Wirtz

The £100 million summer signing has admitted he is still adapting to the Premier League but his second-half performance against Arsenal was plenty encouraging, while he scored a sublime free-kick for Germany.

LW - Cody Gakpo

Had two fine games for the Netherlands and will head back to club football full of confidence.

ST - Hugo Ekitike

Slot has almost certainly declared that Isak will not be able to start the game because of his lack of fitness. That means Ekitike will continue and he will be hoping to

Mamardashvili, Frimpong, Konate, Robertson, Mac Allister, Endo, Chiesa, Isak, Ngumoha.
