Leeds United forward Joel Piroe reveals surprise hidden talent away from football

Leeds United’s Joel Piroe has revealed a hidden talent he had growing up, but it is not connected to the world of football.

Joel Piroe scored 19 goals and won the Championship’s golden boot award last term but there are obvious question marks over his Premier League suitability this season for Leeds United.

Some Leeds fans think Piroe will do well this year, but Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are also strikers at the club. Piroe enjoyed a holiday this summer with Ao Tanaka, but the latter is the more likely to be a regular part of the starting lineup now.

Gary Neville has already criticised Piroe publicly and others thought the Dutchman might be sold this summer. Graham Smyth believes Piroe could have left Leeds in the recent transfer window, for example.

Piroe has remained and was one of the players Leeds had as an instrumental part of the side last term, though. However, could the forward have had a different career away from football?

Speaking via Sky Sports, Sam Byram, Alex Cairns, Jayden Bogle, Willy Gnonto, and Piroe were all asked various questions. They were questioned to see how much they agreed on an array of topics.

The players were asked: “I could go pro in another sport?”

Shocked at Piroe’s positioning of ‘strongly agree’, Gnonto said to the Dutchman: “Bro, you are confident, you know?”

Piroe responded: “You couldn’t go pro in another sport?”

Gnonto asked: “Yeah. Which one?”

Piroe said: “I’ve done pro swimming before.”

Gnonto said: “Relax, bro”, while Sam Byram said: “Impossible”, and Alex Cairns replied: “No chance.”

Piroe replied: “I have.”

Cairns then requested Piroe to “bring the medals.”

Piroe stated: “I will.”

Cairns then concluded: “Ah, I disagree. Disagree. He’s never been in the pool.”

Tony Dorigo’s view of Georginio Rutter and Joel Piroe

Former Leeds defender Tony Dorigo claimed Georginio Rutter would be at Real Madrid if he could finish like Piroe.

Speaking regarding Piroe and Rutter previously, Dorigo said: “What we do know is getting him in the right areas, and feed him the right deliveries, he will score.

“He has got a calmness in front of goal that no one else has. We talked about Georginio Rutter earlier, if he had the calmness Joel Piroe had he’d be at Real Madrid.

“But Georgi hasn’t and it goes everywhere. We were looking at the stats from the weekend about Georgi and he had a shot that went how wide?”
