West Ham’s game against Tottenham could set the precedent for their whole season.
A win against Nottingham Forest was desperately needed but came at an awkward time for Graham Potter. The early international break has made building momentum off the back of it extremely difficult.
However, facing Tottenham specifically as their first game back could swing things either way. A win, or just a good performance, could see Potter get fans back on side, and finally have some start to see the vision of his project. A heavy defeat though could be catastrophic, resetting any progress that was made, and writing off the win at Forest in both fans as well as the players minds that it was a one off.
It’s also a massive game for the board. They’re under more scrutiny than they ever have been before, and if Mohammed Kudus is to score specifically that anger could definitely be taken out on them.
If the players can’t get up for a London derby against Tottenham, then they’re not going to be able to get up for anything.
