The Kansas City Chiefs go up against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, and they won't be up against one of the Eagles' best players.
The rematch that everyone has been waiting to see is almost here. The Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, September 14, and it’s a showdown that is kind of a rematch after the championship game last season. While the Eagles are coming off a win over the Dallas Cowboys, the Chiefs are following a loss to the Los Angeles Charges, which was certainly an upset and unexpected. The Chiefs were huge favorites to win, but Jim Harbaugh and his team pulled off a victory.
Now, the Chiefs can redeem themselves with a win over the Eagles. Not that they have to redeem themselves, because they’re the most winning team of the past few years, but they can start the season 1-1 instead of 0-2.
Ahead of the game, it’s always interesting to look at injury reports for both teams, because it says a lot about the team that you’ll be up against. Now, the Eagles have confirmed that one of their most valued players won’t be on the field on Sunday.
Kansas City Chiefs Won’t Face a Certain Eagle
NFL insider Tom Pelissero has reported that longstanding Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert won’t be playing in Sunday’s game due to a knee injury. In a post on X on Friday, September 12, he stated, “TE Dallas Goedert (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the #Chiefs.”
This is a big loss for the Chiefs, especially since Goedert is coming off a fantastic game against the Cowboys. In the Eagles’ win over Dallas, he had seven receptions for 44 yards. But, this isn’t the first time the Eagles have been without Goedert. In 2024, he was out seven games due to hamstring and knee injuries but was back for the postseason. He was a huge asset to Philadelphia in their playoff games and the final game.
Goedert is still considered elite and was named one of the top 10 best tight ends in ESPN’s annual preseason position feature. He was No. 9, which shows that he’s still one of the best in the NFL.
In the ESPN piece, a veteran NFL defensive coach said of Goedert, “Very good player — does everything extremely well, just not exceptional at any one thing in particular … You don’t give him as much thought as some of these other top [tight ends], but probably because you can’t afford to with Saquon, A.J. and Smith in that offense.”
A Side Hustle for Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce
In off-field news, Travis Kelce and his brother Jason have a cool side hustle in the beer business. Now, Garage Beer, the line of light beers that Travis and Jason became co-owners of in June 2024, is now valued at $200 million in its first institutional round of fundraising, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
Garage Beer offers just two styles of beer: Classic Light and Lime, both with 4 percent ABV and 95 calories. It’s popular with younger drinkers, and according to the WSJ, the beer line “makes it a priority to respond to every social-media message and interact with consumers through billboards and events.” Also, “the brand has a large following among younger legal-age drinkers, including millennials and Gen Z.”
Their beer line is projected to make between $60 million and $70 million just this year, according to Chief Executive Andy Sauer. In 2024, Garage Beer made $20 million, so this is a big success for the Kelce brothers.
