Why Jose Sa isn't in Wolves squad as Vitor Pereira names bombshell XI at Newcastle

Wolves raised a few eyebrows with their lineup away at Newcastle.

Vitor Pereira has named a surprising starting XI for Wolves’ Premier League clash away at Newcastle United.

First-choice goalkeeper Jose Sa has not been included in the team to face the Magpies, while new signing Ladislav Krejci has been named in midfield in what looks to be a 3-5-2 formation. Tolu Arokodare makes his debut right away after signing from Genk, starting up front alongside South Korea international Hwang Hee-chan.

There’s then a surprise start in defence for Yerson Mosquera, who hasn’t been in the XI since the away clash at Villa Park last September, when he suffered his serious knee injury. Even the wing-back choices of Rodrigo Gomes and Hugo Bueno were not obvious, as Jackson Tchatchoua and David Moller Wolfe are both available but benched.

Why Jose Sa isn’t in Wolves squad vs Newcastle

Pereira will be hoping Sa not being in the squad today doesn’t have a negative influence on his side in what is already a tough test at St. James’ Park. Birmingham World understands Sa travelled with the squad to Newcastle but hasn’t been named in the squad due to illness. Former England international Sam Johnstone will play between the sticks instead.

Wolves’ full lineup is as follows: Johnstone (GK); R. Gomes, Mosquera, Agbadou, Toti, H. Bueno; Andre, Krejci, K. Gomes; Hwang, Arokodare.

The Old Gold’s subs are as follows: Bentley (GK), Doherty, S. Bueno, Munetsi, Wolfe, Arias, Bellegarde, Lopez, Tchatchoua.
