Jaylen Brown Reveals Why He Rejected Big Shoe Deal

Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics has found great success in the NBA, but he has never compromised his value.

It doesn’t matter how much money he is offered and how much he can gain, Brown isn’t going to change who he is and what he feels.

He recently talked about turning down a massive business deal with Nike.

He could have made millions of dollars, but he would have had to monitor what he said, and that was unacceptable to Brown.

“You sign these contracts, you have these little catchphrases that be in there. Like, if you say anything controversial, or anything that disrupts our ecosystem of our company, we can terminate your deal, terminate your contract. So that kind of makes you not have a voice. So a lot of our celebrities and our athletes, they never speak up, they never say anything, because they risk whatever their contract is if they do. So I don’t like compromising my voice for nothing and nobody. So I just told them I’d pass,” Brown said of rejecting Nike’s $50 million offer.

When an NBA star signs a deal with Nike or any other business, the company makes sure the new spokesperson won’t do anything that embarrasses or upsets them.

It’s a tough rule for some athletes to follow, but the money usually makes it easier.

But that’s not the case for Brown, who is proud of his thoughts and the way he speaks out.

He doesn’t care how much money he can earn; he isn’t going to change who he is.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Brown has spoken out about Nike multiple times and obviously doesn’t respect the company.

That’s a bold move in a league that is so closely associated with the company, but Brown isn’t changing his approach to speaking out.
