The best images from our Barclays Women's Super League victory over Brighton.
City marked our first home match of the WSL season with a gutsy 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Seagulls took an early lead through Fran Kirby and, based off their performance at the Joie Stadium, will cause plenty of teams problems this season.
But the Blues fought back in the second half, eventually seeing our increasing pressure tell just before the hour mark.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS: CITY 2-1 BRIGHTON
It was Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw who grabbed the equaliser, with her diving header from a Leila Ouahabi cross too powerful for Brighton stopper Chiamaka Nnadozie to keep out.
The momentum of the game was shifting and, in search of the winner, Andrée Jeglertz rolled the dice and introduced both Kerolin and Aoba Fujino from the bench.
And the substitutes combined for City’s second, playing a neat one-two on the edge of the Brighton area to release Yui Hasegawa, who made no mistake with a clinical finish.
A hard-fought but deserved win for the Blues, which got us off the mark for 2025/26!
