'I love being back' - Ange Postecoglou comes out firing after ruthless Arsenal chants

Arsenal fans chanted 'you're getting sacked in the morning' at Ange Postecoglou as he endured a 3-0 defeat on his return to north London.

However, the new Nottingham Forest boss insisted he is up for the fight and ready to be written off in a defiant post-match interview with talkSPORT.

The Australian took charge of his first game as Forest boss at the Emirates, but it was far from the ideal start as his side were comfortably beaten.

Postecoglou wasappointed at the City Groundon Tuesday, replacing Nuno Espirito Santo in the hotseat as head coach.

And he couldn't have asked for a worse place to get his Reds reign underway, having only been sacked by the Gunners' bitter rivals Tottenham three months ago.

It was a difficult match from start to finish for Postecoglou, whose team fell behind to a Martin Zubimendi strike on 32 minutes.

Viktor Gyokeres doubled Arsenal's lead just a minute into the second half, and the home crowd wasted no time in rubbing salt in the Aussie's wounds.

Cheeky chants of 'you're getting sacked in the morning' were aimed at a resigned-looking Postecoglouby the Emirates faithful.

And things soon went from bad to worse for the ex-Spurs boss, as summer signing Zubimendi headed home in the 79th-minute.

The Gunners supporters pounced on this too, breaking into a chorus of: “Are you Tottenham in disguise?”

However, speaking to talkSPORT after the match, Postecoglou insisted he is ready for everything that comes his way.

He said: "I love being back. I love that probably everyone will be writing me off again.

"I love the fight, mate, and I'm up for it. So let's get it on."

The new Forest boss added: "It's disappointing to lose. You don't like losing any game. Obviously, fair play to Arsenal. They're a very good side and here at home, formidable opponents.

"So even if you're going, well, you know, you're in for a tough game here.

"But I've got to keep in context of what the players have gone through this week and understanding the disruption they've had in their world, they're human beings.

"And I had no problem with their effort, their endeavour. They tried to hang in there.

"We were hanging in the first half, but I thought at 1-0 we were still in the game. And then obviously we conceded the second and that kind of let it get away from us. So there was nothing out there.

"That kind of deflated me in a way because I hate losing and the players are disappointed as well. But aside from that understanding, keeping the context of what we've been through, there's still plenty to look forward to."

It capped off a miserable start for Postecoglou, who was also dealt another blow as centre-back Murillo was forced off with an injury.

The Brazilian limped off in the first half after appearing to hurt his knee, and was replaced by new recruit Nicolo Savono.

This came just days full-back Ola Aina was ruled out for three months with a hamstring injury sustained on international duty.

As for Postecoglou, defeat to Arsenal means he is still winless against Arsenal in his managerial career.

The 60-year-old never managed a victory over Mikel Arteta's side during his two-years in charge of Spurs, drawing once and losing three times.

And with his miserable record continuing, Postecoglou has plenty to ponder before his next match - an EFL Cup clash away at Swansea on Wednesday.

As for the Gunners, victory at home saw them return to the Premier League summit, as they leapfrogged Liverpool on goal difference.

The north Londoners are on nine points, having won three of their opening four games, while the Reds can reclaim top spot with just a point against Burnley on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Postecoglou's Forest now sit 11th in the league table, having claimed four points so far.

The Reds' only win of the season under Espirito Santo came in a 3-1 opening day victory over Brentford.
