Over the past decade of the Golden StateWarriors’ dynasty, Draymond Green has made it clear he is never afraid to share his mind. Whether it be about NBA players he faces off against or athletes in other major sports leagues, theWarriors’ four-time champ rarely takes liberties when sharing his true feelings.
Most recently, Green made strong comments on Buffalo Bills quarterback and reigning NFL MVP, Josh Allen. Speaking on the ‘Why is Draymond Green Talking About Football?‘podcast, the Warriors player made his thoughts clear on Allen.
“Josh Allen is not the guy!”Green said in response to a question by Jordan Schultz on whether he was comfortable doubling down on his previously stated opinion.
Green is a notable fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He made similar comments on Allen in January.
Not A Fan Of Josh Allen
Speaking on his new football podcast with Shultz, Greendidn’t mince words when giving his thoughts on Allen. While the star quarterback has seen immense successwhile in Buffalo, the 29-year-old has never reached the Super Bowl, with a career 7-6record in the NFL postseason.
To Green, that means Allenisn’t the one who can lead the Bills to their first Super Bowl in franchise history. TheWarriors’ defensive ace acknowledgedAllen’s success, but repeated that hedoesn’t believe the quarterback can deliver when needed most.
“Josh Allen is a [expletive] good quarterback, but just because he is a [expletive] good quarterbackdon’t make him the guy,”Green said. “He’s never going to get it done when it matters the most.”
Even after theBills’ Week 1 fourth-quarter comeback over the Baltimore Ravens, Green stillisn’t convinced. Allen helped Buffalo fight back down 15 points late, finishing the game with more than 400 total yards and four total touchdowns.
“I don’t care how Herculean of a comeback effort you have at home in Week 1,”Green added. “He’s never going to be the guythat’s going to come out and win a championship.”
After shading Allen, Green went on to mention the two star quarterbacks he believes are above the rest.
“Jalen Hurts is the guy, (Patrick Mahomes) is the guy,”Green said in closing. “Josh Allenisn’t the guy. When it matters the most, he is not going to Herculean you in a playoff game to win a Super Bowl title. He is not going to do that.”
Green Remains Very Outspoken
Though his recent NFL takes are making headlines with the season now underway, Green has remained vocal this summer afterGolden State was eliminated in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.
The leading storyline for the Warriors has been Jonathan Kumingaand his contract standstill with the franchise. As the young win has yet to sign a deal with the team, it has reportedly halted Golden State from making any other roster moves this offseason.
As the Warriors are the only NBA team yet to add or resign any players this summer, many have shifted attention towards the front office. Greenwas asked about his thoughts on the job the general manager, Mike Dunleavy Jr., and company have done, which he responded to promptly.
“He’s been amazing,” Green wrote on Threads. “The job is so much bigger than you all see.”
Green also responded to criticism of his newest All-Star teammate, Jimmy Butler. Butler arrived at the Warriors in a trade deadline deal with the Miami Heat. Holding a similar on-court mindset as Green, many thought the twowouldn’t work well together, but the opposite came true.
“5 time All-NBA is overstated?”Green wrote in response to a post saying Butler was one of theNBA’s most overstated players. “You people say some of the darndest things🤯🤯.”
At 35 years old, Green remains one of the most outspoken players in the NBA,and athletes in general, for that matter. While his NFL opinions might receive criticism, theWarriors’ four-time champion has proven that whatever he feels, he will make known.
