New Nottingham Forest boss Ange Postecoglou has been speaking about Arsenal after his side’s heavy defeat to the Gunners.

Zubimendi’s rocket strike opened the scoring in the first half, and after Gyokeres tapped one in straigth after half-time, it felt as though the game was settled. Zubimendi went on to get a second when he headed home a superb cross from substitute Leandro Trossard.

It was an important win for Arsenal, at least mentally, as they bounced back from a cruel defeat to Liverpool before the break, though the win wasn’t without its bruises. Captain Martin Odegaard picked up an injury, with his shoulder issue seemingly resurfacing after he landed hard on the ground early in the game.

As for Forest, they remain on four points after a turbulent week that saw them replace fan favourite boss Nuno Espirito Santo with former Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou. The change is not only one that angered fans but one that represents a huge shift in playing style, given Santo was more defensive minded, while Postecoglou is significantly more attacking.

Forest fans were always unlikely to see Postecoglou’s vision in full force here, given the Australian only arrived during the week, but a heavy defeat is now that the new boss needed having arrived with plenty of question marks surrounding his appointment.

“Obviously, it’s disappointing for us,” Postecoglou told TNT Sports after the game. “They (Arsenal) are a good side. It’s tough opposition and I can’t fault the lads, I thought they tried really hard. We really couldn’t get to grips of the game and the second goal straight after the break really unsettled us. It’s a disappointing outcome but I can’t fault the efforts of the lads.”

Postecoglou added: “This week was really disrupting for the players and it was an international break as well. I’m trying to introduce new things as the new manager and they haven’t got clarity at the moment, but that’s something we will get into over the next few weeks. They are a really good bunch of players.”
