Massimiliano Allegri made a mistake in not moving to Arsenal when he had the chance as they were offering him a great project.
That’s according to Italian manager Giovanni Galeone, [via Sport Mediaset](https://amp.sportmediaset.mediaset.it/sportmediaset/article/103389062), who believes Allegri should have joined Arsenal in the past.
Allegri joined AC Milan as their new manager for the second time in his career, having previously manager them from 2010 to 2014.
That came after his second spell in charge of Juventus, who has managed for 271 games from 2014 to 2019 before returning in 2021 for another 149 games. He then departed in May last year.
Indeed, he has never managed outside of Italy, starting his career at Aglianese and managing SPAL, Grosseto (twice), Lecco, Sassuolo, Cagliari, then Milan and Juventus.
He’s had plenty of opportunities to head outside of his home country, though, with Chelsea, Arsenal, PSG and Real Madrid all having approached him at various points.
Arsenal came calling seven years ago and it was reported at the time, when the Gunners were replacing Arsene Wenger, that the Italian coach was interested in the job. That eventually went to Unai Emery, and that’s something which still annoys Galeone.
“I never forgave him for not going to Arsenal; it was a great project,” he is quoted as saying to La Repubblica.
“He even turned down PSG; he confided in me that winning in France was too easy for him; he saw it as a league for bachelor’s and married men.”
