KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - After exiting Kansas City’s season-opener just three plays into the game due to a dislocated shoulder, Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has an outside shot at returning just a week later.
Head coach Andy Reid described Worthy’s chances of playing during Sunday’s home-opener as “slim,” but said “there’s still a chance.”
“Xavier did a little bit of team work,” Reid said of Worthy’s participated during Friday’s practice session, “but that was it.”
Worthy suffered the dislocated shoulder on Kansas City’s third play from scrimmage in a 27-21 Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The 2024 first-round pick of the Chiefs was expected to shoulder the load of the offense’s receiving room with star wideout Rashee Rice suspended for the first six weeks. Instead, the shoulder injury suffered when he collided with tight end Travis Kelce knocked him out of the game.

On [Thursday, Worthy was listed as a limited participant](https://www.kctv5.com/2025/09/11/chiefs-worthy-returns-practice-just-days-after-shoulder-injury-forced-him-exit-week-1/) in practice during his first action since the injury. His game designation for Sunday’s Super Bowl rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles is doubtful.
The Chiefs and Eagles will kick off at Arrowhead at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday.
