Newcastle United entertained Wolverhampton Wanderers at St. James’ Park earlier today as they looked to earn a positive result at home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a decent start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 29th minute when Nick Woltemade scored with a great header. Eddie Howe’s men went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.
The Tyneside club sat on their slender lead well and managed to secure a narrow 1-0 win in front of their home supporters.

Pope made a few top saves at the back and earned an important clean sheet this afternoon.

He was solid at the back and made a few inviting chances for his teammates going forward.

Schar cleared his lines when he could and was a good presence on the ball.
**CB: Dan Burn – 7/10**
He performed his defensive duties well and was strong in the air.

**LB: Tino Livramento – 6.5/10**
He was solid when defending inside his half but offered very little in the final third.
**CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 6.5/10**
Guimaraes earned the ball back once and gave a good account of himself in the Wolves’ half.
**CM: Sandro Tonali – 7.5/10**
He was a positive influence at both ends of the field and was unfortunate to strike the post.
**CM: Joelinton – 6.5/10**
Joelinton worked his socks off at the centre of the park.
**RW: Jacob Murphy – 7/10**
He was a real menace in the final third and has got an assist to show for his efforts.
**ST: Nick Woltemade – 8/10**
Woltemade was a real handful in the opponent’s half and made a dream debut by scoring the match-winner with a great header in the 29th minute.
**LW: Harvey Barnes – 6/10**
He managed to catch the eye at times, but didn’t do enough to register a goal.
